2014 was another amazing year, filled with adventures both around the world and near home. One of the best experiences of the year happened just last weekend as a “company Christmas party” with my often second photographer, Jerrit. We bought two seats on a helicopter that flew over NYC, which was a refreshing perspective on a city we often think we know — until we do something like fly over it with no doors and hang out to take a photo of ice skaters on Wollman Rink some 1000 feet below.
I also got my first official tear sheet in 2014, with Leslie & Desiree's Basilica Hudson wedding being used to feature the venue in New York magazine's Weddings issue.
My wife and I were able to travel throughout the US and to one of our dream destinations, Iceland. We can never go a year without a bit of travel!
One of the most surprising destinations we visited was Block Island, just off the eastern tip of Long Island. We experienced some of the best sunsets we've seen anywhere in the world, and some of the best star fields.
Jerrit also got married in 2014, which meant one thing for me: groomal! In the south, it's typical for the bride to take a photo in her wedding dress before the big day and Jerrit didn't want to be left out, so we went upstate and did a “groomal” photo shoot for him.
This was the best photo booth test image of the year.
This was the best pro dance move of the year. Nice form!
This was the coolest cake of the year. (Being a big hiker/camper, I might be a little biased, but that's okay.)
A lot of brides had awesome shoes.
The dresses this year were stunning, too.
And let's not forget the rings!
And yet again, every single client I worked with was awesome. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the many engagements (and one proposal!), elopements, and weddings that I photographed this year.
